Journey as a Declutter Therapist

I started my journey as a declutter therapist back in 2015, working with friends and then moving on to clients as recommendations began to circulate. I have always found joy in seeing a space clear and grow and believe this is very good for all aspects of health.

Birth of Declutterbugz

“I started my decluttering business, DeClutterbugz, in 2017 after returning from Derbyshire to the area of Oxfordshire where I had spent my teenage years. During these 7 years I came to realise that it isn’t just clearing the physical clutter that solves the issue. I began looking into ways in which the cycles could be broken. Having previously worked as a holistic counsellor, I began researching what mindful therapies could be used to help. I started my journey to opening my coaching business by studying hypnotherapy. During this time, many other therapeutic techniques were brought to my attention. I delved deeper and qualified in each of these to add to my skillset, meaning I can now help a much wider range of clients. I now run Vi Barling Coaching, Hoard Halt and DeClutterbugz as complementary sister companies.”

Professional Training

I have trained with:

- The Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers

- The Declutter Academy

Expansion into Therapy

During this time, I began training in Hypnotherapy because I feel many people with hoarding tendencies would get true value from understanding their behaviour and the wider effect it has on their health and wellbeing. While studying this, I became interested in Neuro Linguistic Programming®; the way individuals view the world and the way their experiences have shaped them.

Certified Coach

Now, as a certified coach, I can use all the skills I have trained for to truly assist clients to understand their behaviours and break the patterns for good. This I know will transform lives in every way, improving all aspects of health: mental, physical, and emotional, and how could this possibly be anything but positive.

DeClutterbugz FAQS

How long will the process take?

This greatly depends on the size of the area and your requirements. We can work within a time-frame to suit you. I recommend 3 or 6 hour sessions per visit.

Do I need to be involved in the organising?
Yes. I like to have your input and ideas so we can organise a space that works for you specifically.
Should I clean up before you arrive?
If you would like to do some prep beforehand, that’s great! It can save both time and cost to you.
Will I need to get rid of things?
Only if you want to. Neat but Unique is all about creating spaces so they fit in with you and the life you lead.
Will you help with removing items from my home?
Yes. I can help with these things. I am keen to make sure things are recycled and donated appropriately as being ecologically kind is important to me. I am happy to take a carload per visit from your home. If there is more, we can make a plan of action together.
Should I purchase products/containers ahead of time?

I would not recommend this. The first step is to think about what will work for you and how you are going to use the space. Once this has been thought about will be the time to repurpose what you already own or invest in new storage solutions.
